“You can’t always get what you want”…
That’s the name of today’s Doin’ It In Texas Strip. I’m trying to get it posted to the doinitintexas.com site but somebody is MIA and I can’t. Hope that in this case posting it here instead was just what I needed.
Audio post reblogged from I Forgot the Title with 3 notes - Played 20 times
[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.](via iforgotthetitle) This is one of those lost tracks that will always be a favorite. It has a long ambient intro with spoken word eventually. Nice played alone in the dark with a drink and a bit of time.

“Subtle Matter” is an very FANCY albeit abstract look at the future on a grand scale with a viewpoint shifted towards the organic nature of “slow life.”
The earth stores her minerals in rocks much the same way as we store minerals in our bodies. Life on a planetary scale is very slow life. Technology is hurtling forward too quickly to even chart let alone be recognized buy something so ancient and timeless as Gaia herself. We may kill ourselves but her cockroaches will live on.
I see technology fusing eventually with organics in such a way that the descendants of what we call technology today, will form a lasting and mutually beneficial bond with that ancient mystery we call life by becoming what life has always wanted to be… whatever THAT is.
May our decedents choose wisely, if they really have a choice.
Ideas are living things.
Premiering at the La Dolce Vita, a futuristic themed food and wine fest in Austin Tx on Oct 14 2010 at Laguna Gloria compliments of the Austin Museum of Art- And later at Art Outside at Apache Pass near Austin the following weekend.
My Thanks go out to Bill Nichols for helping me get this ball rolling. And to Erika Maassen who inspires me to go BIG! And Bobby for the sofa and great food. And of course Abby and Christiane for being there.

Another challenge. Fun)
Only have one word for this… FANCY!
So I was thinking about deeply profound symbolism and delicate sensibilities while watching this Nancy Vee vid and I thought… “I will get back to the basics of fancy drawing by trying my hand at tattoo design for pregnant ladys!”
I started drawing this fancy vine thing but it looked like a nest of squirmy insistent um..serpents, and tentacles (not testicles) he he he -[joke]- So I thought… “well its weird, but she IS pregnant so she must like it!” So I splashed a few coats of fancy here and there and meowzers! one happy mom!
(www.createmytattoo.com has these design contests where tattoo requests are posted and artists compete for the cash. I doubt I will win, since it’s not the correct dimensions for what she wanted but I liked the idea of a vine design entitled Sexy Mama.
I couldn’t resist…
Seems like a human canvas is really in order for tattoo work. Go figure ;))
These are some of my 2d digital creations created in Painter and Photoshop plus one in acrylic on wood.
“ProtoCreation” is an example of a complex digital doodle that to me somehow expresses interaction on some mythical, organic, cellular level. I love concepts that embrace “emergent complexity,” simple things that don’t realize they are simple and in doing so baffle scientists. It’s a lot like life.
“The Blue Dress” is another doodle that turned itself into a tender little piece… I shudder to think this my inner child expressing herself. ;)
“Tick” seems to be some apocalyptic portent of the future.
“Eve of Yin”… An Asian take on the Christian creation myth. It may have been inspired in part buy the Tokyo urban legend that claims that one Christmas, Santa Claus was proudly displayed 100ft tall crucified in the center of Shibuya, a popular Tokyo shopping district.
“Christiane In Stained Glass” is a portrait as is “Tatiana Icon.” (Acrylic on Wood) Want a portrait of yourself as a Tarot card, stained window, or religious icon? I’d love to talk to you.
Please contact me regarding any art that you would like to commission or collaborate on.
“So this one year at Burning man…” I helped with the paint design on an art car. The Sand Crawler! This year they wanted to do a carnival themed car from the same chassis, a Winnebago typed vehicle. Circus Crawler became the Creepy Crawler, and I was asked to design the giant clown head that fronts the whole thing. I also volunteered this t-shirt design that I think say it all. Cheers
